Wilfred J. “Sonny” Meunier, 72, of 32 Chestnut Plain Road, Whately died Monday morning in the Holyoke Soldiers Home.
He was born in Greenfield, August 16, 1939, the son of Frances O. (Allis) Meunier and the late Wilfred Meunier, Sr. He was educated in local schools and later joined the U.S. Marines, discharged in 1960 as a Corporal.
Wilfred married Sharron Drown and they made their home in Whately.
He was employed as a carpenter for Aquadro & Cerruti Construction until his retirement, after 32 years. He attended the Whately Congregational Church.
Besides his wife Sharron of 48 years, he leaves his mother Frances O. Meunier of Dexter, Maine, two sons, Thomas Meunier of Whately and William and his wife Jennifer of South Deerfield, a daughter Betty Jean Corbett and her husband Lawrence of Greenfield, a brother Robert and his wife Kathy of Dexter, Maine and two sisters, Gladys Hatt and her husband Robert of Leverett and Carolyn E. Meunier of Dexter, Maine. He also leaves six grandchildren, Caitlin Corbett, PFC Travis Corbett, Sarah Meunier, Samantha Meunier, Alana Guilbault and Haley Kaciak. Two brothers predeceased him, Lawrence E. and Bruce E. Meunier. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be private with buriel at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be sent to Holyoke Soldiers Home, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA 01040. Arrangements under the direction of the Wrisley Funeral Home, South Deerfield.
