Ma.- Stella D. Niedzwiedz, Angels took
our beloved mother, Stella,94, on July 26,2015 at the Buckley Healthcare
Center. She was born July 9, 1921 to Stanley and Kamillia (Trianoska) Ligus.
After attending schools in Whately, she moved to Millers Falls
where she met her future husband. Stella married Bernard P. Niedzwiedz on
Aug.3, 1940 at Holy Name of Jesus Church of which she was one of the original
members, with Fr. Stanley Shuman officiating.
War 11, she raised her two sons until they reached school age at which time she
took a job at the French King Diner. She then started working at the Millers
Falls Tool Co. and worked there for over 20 years.
She and her
husband loved polka dancing, spending many happy hours with all their friends
traveling around Western Ma. and the East Coast attending polka dance
festivals. They were excellent dancers and even won a couple of dance contests.
She also enjoyed sewing dance outfits for her young nieces and reading romantic
novels in her spare time.
Stella was known for her delicious pirogues and golumpkis.
She loved sharing the majority of her food with family and friends, some of
whom she had just met. She was a giver and loved buying gifts for her family
and friends and see the surprised look on their faces. She was also known to
place an occasional wager on a dog, a horse, at a casino or on a lottery ticket
or two. On a couple of occasions she actually shared some of her winnings with
complete strangers who were down on their luck.
In her later
years she liked to frequent some of the local restaurants and became much loved
by all the waitresses who got to know her. She was also loved by the staff at
Buckley. Our family would like to extend our appreciation for all their loving
