Stanley Lapa, Jr
A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 3, at 11:00am at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee

Stanley Lapa, Jr. (74), of Hatfield, was finally called home on Sunday, August 23, 2020.  Stanley was born on November 30, 1945 in Holyoke.  He was the eldest son of the late Stanley and Wanda (Sypek) Lapa.  He was raised in Chicopee and worked on the family farm, Valley Farms, located on Old Field Road in Chicopee.  In his teenage years he was a car enthusiast with a love of speed.  At the age of 16, he owned a brand new '62 Ford Galaxie Sunliner convertible in which he enjoyed street drag racing.  He also shared a love of snowmobiles and racing them.  His love of speed was passed down the family tree and later in his life he enjoyed watching his son and nephew at the grass drag snowmobile races.  In 1968 he started Lapa Bros. Farm and Greenhouses in Hatfield, where he later moved to in the 1970s, alongside his brother, raising both of their families.  This was a 47-acre farm that started off with carrots and parsnips and eventually flourished to hundreds of acres of many other field crops that were sold to the Boston Market, Springfield Farmers Market, and many local supermarkets.  In the 1980s the farm had expanded even more, greenhouses were added, and Lapa Bros. were known for their beautiful flowers.

While farming was his greatest enjoyment, he also enjoyed visiting with family and many friends.  Stanley was a member of the Hatfield Polish Club and the South Deerfield Polish American Citizen Club.  He was well known for sharing all of his stories.

Stanley is survived by his brothers Peter Lapa, Sr. of Hatfield and Joseph Lapa and his wife Diane of Southampton; nephew, Peter Lapa, Jr. and his wife Nicole of Hatfield; niece, Crystal Lapinski and her husband Eddie of West Springfield; granddaughter, Natalie Lapa of Colrain; great niece and nephew Emily and Eddie Lapinski, Jr. of West Springfield, as well as several cousins.

Stanley was predeceased by his beloved son, Stanley Lapa, III who passed in 2007.

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 3, at 11:00am at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee.
