South Deerfield, MA — Stanley J. Pelis Sr., 86 years old, passed away peacefully July 12, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. Stanley was born at home in South Deerfield, March 28, 1936 during the historic flood, to Stanley and Melania (Korzan) Pelis.

Stanley attended Deerfield schools prior to enlisting in the US Air Force and served from 1955-1959.

He and his wife of almost 60 years, Barbara (Rudnicki) were married on January 19, 1963 at St. Stanislaus Church in South Deerfield.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Susan Pelis of Greenfield and longtime partner Ted DeMille, daughter-in-law Carol Pelis Manley and husband Wayne, grandson Scott Pelis, brother-in-law Walter and wife Susan Rudnicki, sister-in-law Marilyn Pelis, several nephews and a niece.

Stanley is predeceased by his son Stanley "Joey" Pelis and brother Edward Pelis.

After working a short time on construction, Stanley began his career at Millers Falls Tool Company and 36 years later retired from Rule Industries.

Stanley's greatest joys were spending time with his beloved grandson Scott, chopping and stacking wood, and watching Western movies. He may have been short in stature but had a large personality; always the kidder.

Funeral arrangements will be made by Wrisley Funeral Home, with a private immediate family only graveside service to lay Stanley to rest at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in South Deerfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Stanley's memory be made to Dakin Animal Shelter, 171 Union St, Springfield, MA 01105
