Sophie C. Collins
SOUTH DEERFIELD-Sophie C. Collins
of South Deerfield and Brewster Massachusetts, passed away on Sunday, November
12, 2017 at age 93.
She was born in South Deerfield on July 23, 1924 to Wladyslaw and
Wladyslawa Wyszynski. She was a graduate of Smith Academy in Hatfield, MA and
the former Northampton Commercial College in Northampton, MA.
She was proud to work for many years as a bookkeeper and secretary,
finally retiring at the age of 83. Sophie was a generous, fun-loving person
who always thought of her children first.
She enjoyed fashion, reading and travel. She was an enthusiastic polka
dancer well into her 90’s and was a member of the Polish American Citizens Club
in South Deerfield. She also enjoyed attending antique car shows with her late husband,
Clayton Collins. They were active
members of the Connecticut Valley Region Antique Car Club for many years.
She was preceded in death by her former husband’s Bernard Sadoski and
Clayton Collins; her brother Joseph Wysinski; and her sisters Ann Filipek,
Edith Barwikowski and Genevieve Majka.
Sophie is survived by her son Bernard C. Sadoski, Jr. and his wife Nan
of South Deerfield; her daughter Bernice Carew of Brewster, MA; and two
sisters, Helen Petrovic of South Deerfield and Elizabeth Broecker of Englewood,
Florida.
A memorial service and burial will be be held in the spring.
