Sarah “Sally” (Moran) Mahoney

A committal service and burial will be Sunday June 14, 2015 at 1:00PM in Brookside Cemetery, South Deerfield. Local arrangements are by the Wrisley Funeral Home, South Deerfield.

Deerfield, Mass. – Sarah “Sally” (Moran) Mahoney, 92, formerly of Deerfield, MA died February 15, 2015, in Kissimmee, FL.

 

She was born in Philadelphia, PA., on July 17, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Ida Moran. She grew up in Belmont, MA, graduating from Belmont High School in 1939. She graduated from DePauw University in 1944 with a BA degree in Sociology and received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Boston University in 1949. She was employed as a social worker for Commonwealth of MA Middlesex County for 23 years before retiring.

 

Sally married Raymond G. Mahoney, on February 22, 1957 in St. Peters Church in Cambridge, MA. In 1968, they moved to South Deerfield. Sally worked as a tour guide for Historic Deerfield for 13 years and was an active volunteer with PVMA and the South Deerfield Congregational Church for many years. She retired to Florida in 2002, and was an active member at Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee, FL.

 

She was predeceased by her husband in 1987, and Brother Wallace Moran in 1998. She is survived by her niece Lizette (Moran) Brown, nephew Jeffrey Moran, her godchild Abigail H. Tasca, and the Bell/Haman family.

 

A committal service and burial will be Sunday June 14, 2015 at 1:00PM in Brookside Cemetery, South Deerfield. Local arrangements are by the Wrisley Funeral Home, South Deerfield.
