Easthampton, MA — Richard H. Angell, 77, formerly of Conway, MA, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at his home in Easthampton.

Dick was born in Syracuse, NY on February 19, 1944 to Harold R. and Helen E. (Corbett) Angell. He grew up in nearby Bridgeport, NY, was educated in local schools, and graduated from Chittenango High School in 1961.

He enlisted in the army in early 1962 and spent his three years of active duty in Fort Belvoir, VA and Thule, Greenland. During that time, he met and married Carol A. Mercure who predeceased him in 2009. After the birth of their daughter, Tiffany, they moved to his hometown where they lived for 4 years before relocating to Conway, Carol's hometown, where he spent the next 41 years.

Dick spent most of his working life as a machinist on second shift in various local machine shops. This schedule gave him the time to enjoy golfing, fishing, making wooden toys and chair caning. After his retirement, he was often an active participant in Conway town meetings that he had been unable to attend during his working years.

In addition to his daughter Tiffany Angell and her husband, Mark Davis of Conway, he is survived by close friends Sheila French of Conway and Starr McGrath of Southampton, MA.

Dick was initiated into Morning Sun Lodge A.F. & A.M. on March 3, 1971, making him a 50-year mason. In recognition of his masonic life, he asked that anyone who wishes do so make memorial contributions in his name to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Arrangements are under the direction of Wrisley Funeral Home in South Deerfield. Expressions of sympathy available at www.wrisleyfuneralhome.com
