Turners Falls – Mildred R. (Smith) Greene of Turners Falls died peacefully on February 9, 2013 at Poet’s Seat Nursing Home.
Born in Montague, April 14, 1915, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Murley) Smith.
Mildred was educated in the Gill schools. She was a loving parent; her favorite past-times were knitting, gardening and making puzzles. She worked for Strathmore Paper Mill until her retirement. Family was everything to her.
She will be dearly missed by her four daughters, Beverly Webb, Marilyn (Mitzi) Koscinski and her husband Stash, Barbara Rivet and Betty McCabe and her husband Dick Shepard. She also leaves her sister Barbara Stewart and her husband James, all of Montague, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Dolores Greene of Greenfield.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Melvin A. Greene in 1993. She was also preceded by her brother Edward Smith and two sons-in-law, Bob Webb and Bob Rivet.
At the request of the deceased, no formal funeral services will be held. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Gill in the spring. For those wishing, donations in her memory may be made to the National Federation for the Blind, P. O. Box 3512, Springfield, MA 01104.
