Matilde ‘Tillie’ (Perez) Warner, of Montague, MA, died Feb. 16th, 2017 at New England Health Center in Sunderland, MA. She was born Sept. 12th, 1941 in Madrid, Spain. Her husband of 36 years, Myron A. Warner II, passed away in 2016. She was the daughter of the former Ramon Perez Gimenez and Daria Arroyo Rico of Madrid, Spain. She is predeceased by her brother Ramon Perez, her daughter, Joann M. Swanson, and her son, Steven G. Swanson. She will be greatly missed by her sons, Gary D. Swanson, Michael D. Swanson and Allen M. Warner, her step-sons Myron A. Warner III and Marc A. Warner, her sisters Laura (Perez) Whynot and Pilar Perez Arroyo and brother Fernando Perez. Tillie also leaves many cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and very many friends.

Tillie graduated from Colegio Público Menéndez y Pelayo of Madrid in 1958 and also studied English for 2 years. At Torrejon Air Force Base in Madrid, Spain, she met her first husband, George E. Swanson.

After coming to America and (proudly) becoming a U.S. citizen, she worked at some manufacturing jobs in the Gardner area including at a plastic toy maker and a furniture manufacturer (both no longer in existence). After moving to Greenfield, MA in 1972, she worked for Phoenix Mutual until her retirement. She (and her husbands) was a member of the American Legion. She loved to camp, watch classic movies and gameshows, play board games, and cards. She was into numerology and liked playing numbers games.

Tillie was a two-time cancer survivor. Her life was one of love and caring for all she involved herself with. Special thanks to New England Health Center for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Matilde Warner to the American Cancer Society.
