Mary R. (Gromaski) Rup

Funeral services will be held Thursday Dec.29th, at 9:15AM from the Wrisley Funeral Home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Holy Family Church, So. Deerfield, at 10:00AM. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Dec.28th, from 4-6:00PM.at the funeral home. Burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery will take place later in the spring at a date to be announced

   Mary R. (Gromaski) Rup, 99, of Christian Lane, Whately, died early Friday morning, Dec.23,2016, in Linda Manor Extended Care Facility in Leeds, MA. Mary was born on June 17, 1917 in Whately, the daughter of Alexander and Mary (Sarafen) Gromaski. She was educated in the Whately school system and attended Deerfield High School.
     Mary married the love of her life, Joseph R. Rup, also of Whately, on May 17,1936. Mary was Joe’s wingman managing the Rup Family Tobacco Business for many years. She had a long and fruitful life, finally succumbing to cancer.
       Mary was predeceased by her husband Joseph on Feb.28,2014, her parente Alexander and Mary Gromaski, sisters Alice, Rose, Lydia, Florence, and brothers Leslie, Aleck, and grandson Todd E. Rup of Essex Jct., Vt.
       She is survived by her son Ronald J. Rup and wife Mary Jane of Essex Jct.,Vt. ,grandchildren Ronald J. Rup, Jr. of Essex Jct., Robin (Rup) Butman and husband William of Westfield, MA., Sean Rup of South Dakota, Anastasia (Stasha) Rup if Essex/Starksboro, Vt., Brigit Venezia of Westfield, Ma. and Skylar Rup of Essex Jct. She is also survived by sisters Eleanor Smith of South Deerfield and Blanche Gromaski and her brother John Gromaski at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and family members.
A special thanks goes to niece Janet Balise of Hatfield who provided abundant care and services for mom during her illness.
