Burial in Hockanum Cemetery, Hadley will take place in the spring at a date and time to be announced

Mary Jane Ahearn passed away on January 3, 2018 at the age of 63 after a 2 ½ year hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born April 27, 1954 in Northampton to the late Edna M. (Munks) and William J. Ahearn. Mary lived most of her life in Sunderland.

 

Mary attended Frontier Regional High School and graduated in the class of 1972. She then went on to the Thompson School of Nursing where she received her LPN license in 1975. She later graduated from Greenfield Community College in 1997 as a Registered Nurse. Mary was employed by Cooley Dickinson Hospital until her retirement in 2015 after 40 years of dedicated nursing.

 

Mary was predeceased by her parents and her oldest brother William Ahearn. She is survived by her two daughters, Meaghan Ahearn of Athol and Erin Rex and her husband Joseph of Hadley along with her two granddaughters Dorothy and Charlotte Rex. Mary also leaves a foster daughter Nicole Prince, her fiancé Timothy Grzybowski and their two children Lucas and Dominic, all of South Carolina. Mary leaves behind her siblings Richard and his wife Geraldine of Greenfield; Michael and his wife Carol of Sunderland; Ann Barstow and her husband Steven of Hadley; Robert and his wife MaryEllen of Sunderland and her sister-in-law June Ahearn of Colrain. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.
