                                                   LAURIE L. FARRICK

Laurie Lee Farrick, 58, died at Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Lady Lake, Florida on September 6, 2017, surrounded by loved ones following a five year battle with breast cancer. Laurie was born on January 15, 1959 in Northampton to Edward R. Farrick and the late Nancy (Niedbala) Farrick. She graduated from Frontier Regional School and the University of Massachusetts. Before UMass she attended GCC and was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame. She was a talented athlete who once made the varsity team as a 7th grader and was proud to be one of Vi Goodnow’s girls and a member of numerous championship teams.

After working locally as a special education teacher, she achieved her lifelong dream of living on the beach when she moved to Hawaii where she continued teaching and coaching. She lived in Hawaii for ten years before moving to Lady Lake, Florida, where she taught, worked as a waitress (she didn’t have experience, just acted like she knew what she was doing), then as a painter before starting Laurie’s Landscaping which she operated until her death. She enjoyed many happy hours golfing and was proud to be the Club Champion of Orange Blossom Hills in 2009. Laurie was always the life of the party. She was kind and helpful to many, especially the elderly whom she often gave free landscaping services.

Laurie was preceded in death by her mother and best friend Nancy Farrick. She is survived by her father Edward R. Farrick of Whately. She also leaves her brother Rick and wife Tamara and their children Zack, Chloe, and Chase of Newport, RI, sister Diane Grybko and husband Leonard Jr. of South Deerfield and their children, Amanda, Katie Anderson (Jonathan), Kristyn Korpita (Dylan), and Stephen, sister Lisa Massicotte and husband Michael of Wayland and their children Jeffrey, Rachel, and Matthew. She was thrilled to meet her great nephew Duke Anderson this past Thanksgiving. She also leaves special friends Fely Abut and her son Ian, Diana Anderson and Michael Short, all of Lady Lake, FL.
