Greenfield, MA — On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, Judith Ann (Miner) Scott, 80, passed away peacefully after a courageous fight with cancer at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA. Judy was born on May 31, 1941 in Greenfield, daughter of the late Chester and Annie Miner. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1959. Judy was a longtime, active member of the First Congregational Church in Greenfield and the West Yarmouth Congregational Church.

She had a variety of jobs in the Franklin/Hampshire counties area throughout the years which included, JC Penney, Big E Concession stand in the Better Living Center and Women's World Health and Fitness Center. In addition, she was a Junior Branch volunteer at the Franklin Medical Center.

Judy was an avid runner having completed 5 Boston Marathons and volunteered at the Boston Marathon registration center for 18 years after that. She was a Senior Olympian participating in the field sports of hammer, discus and shot put at the annual senior games throughout the United States. Judy was a member of the Sugarloaf Mountain Athletic Club and served on their executive board for several years.

Judy enjoyed her Red Hats events, tap and clog dancing, and being Firecracker the clown at parades throughout the area. Always up for traveling and adventures that included zip lining, hiking into the Grand Canyon, and running up Mt. Washington. Yet, the highlight of her life was being a masonic wife and a Grandma.

Judy was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Donald B. Scott. She is survived by her daughter Michele DeFreece (Delhi, NY), her son Shannon Scott (Northampton, Ma) and two step daughters: Pamela Moore (Ray) of Springfield, Dr. Lisa Scott of Raleigh, NC and one step son: Christopher Scott of Springfield. She also leaves grandchildren Marcus, William (Rianna) and Dominique along with seven step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. Also, she leaves her brother and sister in law, Grantland (Gary) Scott of Greenfield and Shirley Gordon of Springfield. The family would like to extend a loving thank you to Judy's family, friends, Masons, doctors, and nurses for everything during this long battle with cancer. No immediate gathering will be held. There will be a Celebration of Life at the convenience of the family.
