Jozef K. Brynda

Jozef K. Brynda died November 23, 2017 at his home in Whately after an extended illness. He was born on April 28, 1942 in Chorozowce, Poland, to Marianna Skowysz and Aleksander Brynda. He grew up working the family farm and served 2 years in the Polish Army.

Joe immigrated to the United States in March of 1966, leaving his wife and 6 week old daughter behind to help his cousin, Lena Ciborowski, after her husband and son’s death. He brought his wife and daughter to the US in October of 1968 for the opportunity to start a new life.   He became a citizen of the United States in 1982.

Joe, with the help of his family, refinished two homes and a rental property including the one he raised his family in.

He worked for 40 years as a custodian at Frontier Regional High School. To provide for his family he often worked extra jobs in the tobacco fields for Fairview Farms and custodial services at Pliant Corporation. He also raised cucumbers with the help of his children, for Oxford Pickle.

Joe was most proud of his children earning their college degrees. He enjoyed watching sporting events at Frontier and tending to his vegetable garden.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Albina, who he married January 1, 1965. He also leaves his children, Wiesia Nye, her fiancé Steve O’Connell of South Deerfield, Kristine Jordan of Northfield, his son Richard Brynda and wife Michelle of West Deerfield. He leaves his beloved grandchildren, Jared Nye, Beatrice Brynda and Gehrig Brynda. He also leaves his sister Leokadia Rolewicz in Poland.
