John H. Dunbar

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 15 at 1:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 290 Shelburne Road, Greenfield, MA

John H. Dunbar, 70, died on November 26, 2018 at Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield. He was born on November 5, 1948 to the late Harry and Mary (Tiberi) Dunbar in Norwood, MA. He was predeceased by his younger sister, Karen.

Jack graduated from Avon High School in 1966. He attended Massasoit Community College where he was involved in multiple theatre productions. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in History at Bridgewater State University in 1989. Jack had a variety of interests including playing most fretted stringed instruments, singing, songwriting and photography. He taught CPR and First Aid classes and was employed in the photography field, human services, residential and vocational counseling, job development and the marketing of vocational programs and services for individuals with disabilities. He was most recently employed as a school bus driver before retirement.

 

Jack was married to Denise (Bordeaux) on June 28, 2003. He leaves his wife of 15 years, and step-daughter, Myryah Daehn and fiancé, Joe Dodge and grandchildren, Izzy and Danny of Orange, MA; step-daughter, Bianca and husband, Benjamin Harkrider and grandchildren, Ayla, Elsie, Noelle, and Tirzah of Anthem, AZ. Jack leaves extended family and many friends—those that knew him for his compassion and caring, his faith, sense of humor, wit, musical talent, and culinary delights.

 

Jack’s family would like to express appreciation for the assistance, service, availability, compassion and caring of the many healthcare professionals, care givers, emergency response teams and organizations allowing Jack to remain home during his illness. Those include, but are not limited to, local ambulance services, Triad, Lifepath, Hospice, and the South Deerfield Police Department. And many thanks to the care received during Jack’s last days at Charlene Manor.
