OCALA, Fla. - John Everett Record passed away on February 4, 2018 in Ocala, Florida surrounded by his family. He was born on August 17, 1936 in Winchendon, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his parents Ray and Serena Chesley of Conway, MA. John was the youngest of 13 children.

John leaves behind his loving wife Joan (nee Batchelder) of 60 years: his son Shawn (Dana) of Southampton, Ma; son Glenn of Ocala, Florida; daughter Christine Hilty of Melbourne, Florida; daughter Roxann Brady (Brien) of Melbourne, Florida; grandchildren James Hilty, Gabrielle Record and Erin Brady; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his foster brother William Leno (Elizabeth) of South Deerfield, Ma.
John attended Smith Vocational High School in Northampton, Ma. He was a member of the National Guard from 1953 to 1958. He was a member of the Masonic Mountain Lodge in Shelburne Falls, Ma.

John owned The Village Shop restaurant in Conway, Mass., with his wife Joan from 1960 to 1968. He went on to the food service industry as a regional manager for Ogden Allied Services in Miami, Florida. He made an outstanding reputation for himself in the industry. He moved on to work as a Vice President for Fine Host Corp in the Southwest of the U.S. and left behind his legacy in the industry.

He retired to Ocala, Fla. in 1999 to enjoy life at the retirement community of Saddle Oak Club with Joan. There he enjoyed many years of planning events and parties for the community. He loved spending time in Vermont during the summer and traveling with his family.
