Jim Glazier, 85,
passed away quietly at his home in West Gardiner, Maine;
August 26, 2013.
Born September 28,
1927 in Leverett, Massachusetts, Jim served his country from
1945 through 1946 as a member of the U.S. Navy. He attended The University of
Massachusetts - Stockbridge, earning an Associate degree in Pomology in 1948.
Jim began his working career as a research assistant with U Mass before
founding Roaring Brook Nurseries in Leverett,
MA in 1956. He also worked for
Central Chemical Company as General Manager of Sales beginning in 1967 before
resigning in 1981 to concentrate on his own business. In 1976 he relocated his
family and business operations to Wales,
retired in 1991 to travel and enjoy time between homes in Maine
and in Florida.
In addition to
love of family and friends, Jim loved the Red Sox, Patriots, Nascar and
anything to do with cars. He loved the beaches of Florida
and Maine, especially Goose Rocks Beach, Maine.

(Culver) Glazier and brothers Richard and Henry.
He is survived by
his loving wife of 40 years: Dorothy Owen; son: James “JR” Glazier and wife
Kristen, Wales, ME; Daughters: Deborah
Randall and her husband Joel, Strafford, NH, Linda Nall and husband Jim,
Columbia, SC , Step-Daughters Linda Archambault (Tom) Bangor, ME, Patricia
Rohan (Larry) Whidbey Island, WA, Jodi Bauer (Keith), Crested Butte, CO, His Grandsons: Leonard
Zimnowski and his wife Ashley, Huntsville, AL, Jared Glazier, Wales, ME; Granddaughter:
Lindsay Glazier, Wales, ME; and Great Granddaughters: Olivia and Ila
will be held on September 4th at 11am at the Leverett Congregational
Church, with the Rev. James Smith officiating.
Jim will be laid to rest in East
Leverett, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be
made to the Leverett Cemetery Assoc., 21 Long Hill Rd., Leverett,
MA, 01054. Arrangements under the direction of the
Wrisley Funeral Home, So. Deerfield,
MA. There are no calling hours.
