Calling hours at the Wrisley Funeral Home, Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield, will be held Monday, January 21, 2019, from 4:00-7:00PM. The Rosary Confraternity will recite the Rosary Monday at 4:00PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22nd, at 9:00AM from the Funeral Home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Holy Family Church

Jennie Mary Rup (nee Sparko) was born in 1926 in Easthampton, MA, and loved reminiscing about her youth growing up on the East Street family farm with her parents Mary (nee Marya Pyrsak) and Stanley Sparko (nee Stanislaw Szpyrka), sisters Stacia Zimnowski, Julie Pietryka, Josephine Gusek, Albina Mary Cronin, and brothers, John, Walter, Henry and Theodore.   She married John Rup (deceased) in 1948 and moved to Whately where she lived for 70 years.  Jennie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and hosting holiday festivities including her annual Christmas Eve gathering attended by family, neighbors, and friends. She also enjoyed gardens and flowers, striking up conversations with people wherever she went, and enjoyed many traveling adventures in the USA and abroad.  She was an active member of the Whately Historical Society, St. Anne’s Sodality, Ladies Rosary Confraternity, and Holy Family Church of South Deerfield.  She leaves her 6 children and their families: Mary Lou Rup of Whately Massachusetts, Sandie Rup and Louis Blanchet of Naples FL, John (Jack) and Kathy Rup of Willington CT, Bonnie Rup and Rod Hewick of Boston MA, Laura and Ronald Blajda of North Hadley, MA, Cyndi Rup and Sean Soltysik of Boylston MA, Granddaughter Allison Blajda and William Marsh, Grandson Andrew Blajda and Courtney Afonso, Grandson John W. Rup and Brittany Raynard, and Granddaughter Sarah Rup.  Also survived by sister Albina Mary Cronin, sisters-in-law Wanda Helstowski, Edna Bartos and Ramona Nieskowski, Patricia Hoynoski, extended family members Paul Hewick and Claire Hewick-Toohey and their families, cherished neighbor-friends Roberta, Patrick and Jennifer Reardon and their families, and countless other family members and friends.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Church, Whately Historical Society, or the American Heart Association.
