Sunderland, MA – James C. Hamill, 83, of 24 Old Amherst Rd, Sunderland, died Sunday night in Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, July 12, 1930, the son of James and Margaret (Craigie) Hamill.

 

James was educated in Brooklyn schools and Agawam, MA. He graduated from Agawam High School in 1948. He enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He later married Margaret Irene Bjorken on June 1, 1995 in Hyannis, MA. Most of their married life was here.

 

Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Bruce Hamill of Chicopee, Glenn Hamill and his wife Shirley of Sunderland and Graig Hamill of Feeding Hills, one daughter, Laura Hamill of Springfield, his twin brother, Barkley Hamill of Forest Park, Springfield, 6 grandchildren and 15 step-grandchildren.

 

Calling hours are Thursday evening from 5 to 7pm in the Wrisley Funeral Home Chapel with a Religious Service at 6:30pm, with the Rev. Larry Riddle, Pastor of the Moores Corner Church, Leverett, officiating. Family & friends will meet Friday at 10am at the Agawam Veterans Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA for a Committal Service and Military Honors.
