Sunderland – Helen A. “Nana” Pomeroy, 89, of No. Main St.,
Sunderland died Saturday evening, January 21, 2017 in the New England Health
Center in Sunderland.
She was born in So. Deerfield, March 10, 1927, the daughter
of Alexander and Teofilia Rojecki Wroblewski.
Helen was educated in Deerfield schools and graduated from the former
Deerfield High School. She was married
to Ralph H. Pomeroy Sr. in St. Stanislaus Rectory, September 11, 1948 by Rev.
John Langow. All of their married life
was spent in Sunderland. Ralph
pre-deceased her on July 19, 2001.
Helen was a member of the Holy Family Church, a charter
member of St. Stanislaus Church Rosary Sodality, Eucharistic Minister, Nursing
Home Rosary Leader, the Rosary Confraternity Society, she worked on church
socials & work committees, Sunderland Town Auditor from 1969-1971, poll
worker, Sunderland Water Meter Reader and Steering Committee for the Sunderland
Town History Vol III. She was also a
retired Postmaster for the US Postal Service in the So. Deerfield office.
She is survived by one son, Ralph H. “Bud” Pomeroy Jr. of
Sunderland, two daughters, Beverly J. Mason and Jane E. Kaminskas and her
husband Joe, all of Sunderland, one sister, Magdelina Jobst of So. Deerfield, 6
grandchildren, Todd Cuff, Amy Cuff, Erin Moore and her husband Foster, Lisa
Meagher and her husband Michael, Karen Hubbard and her husband Jason and
Michael Kaminskas, 4 great-grandchildren, Gabriel Moore, Corbin Hubbard, Eden
Hubbard and Ashley Meagher along with 21 nieces and nephews. Helen was pre-deceased by 3 brothers, Lewis,
Alexander and Edward and 3 sisters, Regina Rediker, Rose Paquette and Edith
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 26th
at 10:30am from the Wrisley Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian
Burial at 11am in the Holy Family Church celebrated by Monsignor Ronald
Yargeau. Calling hours are Thursday from
9am until 10:30am with Rosary Confraternity at 9:30am. Burial will be in the spring at the Riverside
Cemetery in Sunderland. Donations in her
memory may be made to the Renovation Fund at Holy Family Church.
