HADLEY- Glenn W. Stowell Jr, 91, passed away on Monday, April 16,2018 at The Hospice of the Fisher Home, Amherst surrounded by family.


Glenn Jr. was born on June 26, 1926 to Glenn and Marion (Germain) Stowell in Leverett, MA. He attended local schools and furthered his education at Smith Vocational School. He then served in the US Army in Europe during World War II.


Glenn married Marilyn Jantz on September 28, 1947. They recently celebrated 70 years of marriage with a weekend trip to Ogunquit/Wells Beach, Maine with their 7 children in attendance.


Glenn worked in the family business on Leverett Rd in Amherst, first on the Stowell dairy farm and later as president of G.W. Stowell Trucking. After retirement at age 73, he enjoyed traveling with his wife to many locations throughout the United States, as well as attending his grandchildren’s activities and events.


Glenn is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and 5 daughters; Nancy (James) Layzer, Janice (Eric) Clark, Glenda Stowell, Diane (Gregg) Adams and Carol (Bo) Allis. and 2 sons; Glenn III (Judy) Stowell and David Stowell. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and his two brothers, John and Milford.


There will be a private family graveside service with military honors at the Shutesbury Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Special Olympics of Massachusetts.
