Evelyn
(Sheppard) Boron passed away on July 1, 2018 at the Center for Extended Care in
Amherst. Evelyn was born July 15, 1924 to Frank Sheppard and Evelyn (Szewczyk)
Sheppard. Her mother passed away in 1934. She later had another mother Sophie
Sheppard who she adored.
She graduated
from the high school of Commerce in 1942. She lived in Indian Orchard and moved
to South Deerfield when she married the love of her life Henry Boron.
She worked in
the Springfield Armory, Milton Bradley and her father’s market. In 1950 she
opened Boron’s Market with her husband Henry on Elm Street in South Deerfield.
Evelyn then went to work at UMass and retired at the age of 71. After
retiring she worked part time in the Stop & Shop bakery for 14 years until
she was 85.
Evelyn is
survived by her daughter Susan Beaubien and her husband Al, her grandson Brian
O‘Connor and wife Kate, three great grandchildren Kevin, Ryan and Kiersten, her
sister Dianne Carter of Ipswich, sisters-in-law Harriet Rogers of Northampton,
Shirley Boron of South Deerfield, brother-in-law Walter Thayer of Hatfield and
many nieces and nephews.
She was
predeceased by her husband Henry Boron, son Ricky Boron and sister Joan Thayer.
Evelyn belonged
to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Society and the Rosary Society. She loved helping
everyone especially her family. She was always giving people money when they
needed it.
She spent a
great deal of time visiting friends and family in the nursing home.
She especially
loved to do her family’s laundry and ironing especially for Brian and Kate.
Special thanks
to her sister-in-law Harriet Rogers who took her on many excursions all over
the countryside and their very special lunches. Special thanks to Jane from the
Hatfield Senior Center who always went out of her way to help Evelyn. Special
thanks to Pat Crafts who helped mom out and for all her patience and for her
scrambled eggs. Special thanks to the staff at the Center for Extended Care in
Amherst for all their kindness and caring. Special thanks to Jackie Williams her
physical therapist.
There will be
calling hours Friday July 13 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m.at Wrisley Funeral Home,
Sugarloaf St South Deerfield MA followed by a mass at the Holy Family Pope
Center Sugarloaf St South Deerfield MA and burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery,
Boron Ave., South Deerfield MA
