SUNDERLAND, MA — Elizabeth J. (Bandalevich) Burzynski of Sunderland passed peacefully on April 13, 2021 after a brief illness. She was 89.

Betty was born in Greenfield on January 31, 1932 to the late John P. Bandalevich and Elizabeth (Bartos) Bandalevich. She grew up in Leverett and then moved to Sunderland with her beloved parents and sister Joan. She graduated from Amherst High School in 1950 and became an office worker at the Tap & Die Corporation in Greenfield. She married in 1959 and raised her three daughters in Chicopee returning to Sunderland in 1996. In her younger years, she loved going to the Polish dances and had aspirations to go to fashion school.

Betty, an animal lover, bird watcher, and talented pianist, enjoyed gardening, flowers, and nature in all its forms. She was particularly known for remembering the weather on specific dates from the past and loved following the forecast. She loved a good recipe, all things chocolate, and could make a delicious pork roast and graham cracker fudge like nobody's business! Above all she cherished her home, her family, the Sunderland area, and the wonderful memories it holds for all of us. She treasured her children and grandchildren and loved her role as Grammy.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her sister Joan (Bandalevich) Skribiski and brother-in-law Ed Skribiski, Sr. , two people that she always held dear to her heart. She is survived by her daughters Susan, Kathy, and Kristin, their families, and beloved grandchildren Ethan and Jenna. Tigger, her longtime feline friend, companion and buddy is in good hands and grieves this loss with the rest of the family. She also leaves Ed, David, Sherri and John her cherished nephews and niece and their families along with her Aunt Jessie and many cousins.

Funeral Services will be May 18, 2021 at Holy Family Church in South Deerfield followed by burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Services will necessarily be limited to invited guests due to Covid 19 restrictions.

In honoring Betty's wishes, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, any donations in her memory go to a place she visited often in Leverett…the Dakin Humane Society. Arrangements under the direction of Wrisley Funeral Home in South Deerfield.
