Ed passed away peacefully on August 16, 2021 in the same house where he was born and where he had lived for 95 years. Ed was the youngest of 5 brothers who, along with their father grew vegetables and tobacco and milked cows on the family farm in Deerfield since the 1920's. He retired from active farming many years ago but continued to drive for haying, garden, mow the lawn and do odd jobs around the house and farm until several years ago.

Ed will be remembered for his knowledge of farming and gardening which he shared with his Deerfield neighbors and tourists who just happened by. In the summer Ed would not let friends and visitors leave the farm without an armful of vegetables, tomatoes or sweet corn. He was a dog lover and was often accompanied by his own dog or one borrowed from family or friends.

As a young person Ed was an avid skier and he shared that love taking nieces and nephews skiing as they grew up and with coaching local school ski teams. More recently he often shared stories of his favorite ski adventures with family and friends and enjoyed thinking about skiing on the snowy, cold but sunny winter days saying, "This is a ski day!"

Ed is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.

Ed and his family truly appreciate the wonderful support of Pioneer Valley Hospice over the past year.
