Greenfield, MA — Dorothy "Dottie" (Comins) Bartos, 90, of Greenfield, MA passed away peacefully on June 17, 2021 at home with her children near her side. She was born in Northampton, MA on September 14, 1930, the daughter of Mary (Swaikowski) and Adam Comins. She lived on the family farm on River Road in Hadley, MA until the family moved to Greenfield when she was 15. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1948. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

"Mom was always there for us". Dottie raised her children in a selfless loving environment. Her interests and talents included entertaining, baking, sewing, knitting, traveling, crocheting, and cooking. And she loved a good game of rummy. She was the heart of the family and always made sure birthdays and Christmases were special. She was outgoing, gregarious, and had frequent gatherings with a large circle of friends throughout the decades.

In her early years she worked in the office at the Millers Falls Tool Company and Wilson's Department Store. She married Roger Bartos in 1953 and worked part time at the Snack Bar while raising her children. When the children were grown, she returned to work part time at Wilson's until she retired.

She was predeceased by her husband Roger in 2017 and her sister Helen Scarborough of Martha's Vineyard also in 2017. Among her survivors, Dottie leaves two children, son Gary Bartos of New Hampshire with Kasia Januszewski Bartos, and daughter Judy Bartos of Massachusetts, as well as a brother Chet Comins of Agawam, MA and a sister Alice Whitcomb of Southwick, MA. She also leaves two grandchildren, Olivia and Haley Bartos of New Hampshire, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
