A generous soul in every sense of the word, Doreen Geoffrey Smith entered eternal life on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at age 62. Although never one for a high-five, Doreen's displays of support were ever-flowing in both her time and her talent. Whether she was painting canvas masterpieces or designing clambake tickets, Doreen's endlessly gifted spirit shined through everything she made. Under her focus, simple greeting cards were transcribed with dazzling calligraphy, household items became heirloom keepsakes, and blank scrabble boards transformed into an entanglement of complex words. Truly the only thing that might have eclipsed her creativity and generosity was her perspicacity. "That's 73 points, plus a double word score," she'd tell you confidently.

And confidence is something that was in no short supply for Doreen. Mastering the art of expressing her opinion, even from a young age, Doreen blended her innovative mindset and good-natured business acumen into a successful thirty-year career with the Yankee Candle Company. Always taking pride in her work, Doreen enjoyed interpreting everyday experiences into fragrances, names, label imagery, and candle colors. Her artistry lives on in homes everywhere.

Leaving the corporate world, Doreen quickly rekindled her earliest passion for freely creating art. Without formal training, Doreen found happiness 'dabbling' with drawing, painting, collage, and other artistic approaches at her beloved seaside home. As someone who was most at peace by the ocean, Doreen produced watercolor illustrations for a series of children's books authored by family members and inspired, in part, by her time in the South Shore with her husband, Steve, and their faithful dog, Casey.

Married on July 1, 1990, Doreen and her 'Honey,' Steve, built their life together and filled it with wonderfully colorful memories, ironic for a woman whose favorite color was admittedly black. The pair spent thirty-one years punctuated with their mutual love for travel, food – and much to Doreen's chagrin - the occasional light adventure. Consistently a rule follower, yet when in the company of Steve, Doreen would somehow find herself on the back of a motorcycle through the woods, ticketed by Italian police, or scuba diving with stingrays.

For us to sum Doreen's vibrant life up in words is simply an impossible task. But if she were here, she'd surely say it was 'fabulous.'

Doreen is now reunited with her parents, Norman and Donalda Geoffrey and her brother, Donald Geoffrey. She is survived by her husband, Steve, and siblings, Debra Mailloux and her husband Robert, Dean Geoffrey and his wife Allison, Darryl Geoffrey and his wife Carin, and Carol Geoffrey, wife of Donald. She is also remembered by Steve's family, mother Jean Galvis, brother Ted Smith and Lynn McCleery, and sister Karen Arsenault and her husband Dan. Her spirit will be carried on by her many nieces, nephews, and their children whom she loved dearly, as well as her extended family of cherished friends.
