SOUTH DEERFIELD, MA — Delia (Grybko) Magelinski, 90, formerly of South Deerfield, died Sunday (5/30/2021) at Buckley Health Care Center in Greenfield with her daughter by her side. She was born in South Deerfield on December 12, 1930, the daughter of Andrew and Josephine (Leonowicz) Grybko. Delia attended Deerfield schools and graduated from Deerfield High School. She worked at various farms, offices and at Hillside Plastics. She spent many years tending to the family's large garden, canning and freezing vegetables for the winter.

Delia loved animals and the outdoors. An avid reader, she was a speed reader and could read half a dozen books every week. She also loved crossword puzzles and word searches, old movies especially westerns and old tv shows. She loved going shopping, to parades and parks with her grandchildren. She had a contagious laugh and would sometimes have "giggle episodes" which the staff at Buckley know well. Always smiling and happy, everyone loved her.

She married Michael Magelinski, Sr. on August 10, 1953. They spent their life together in South Deerfield. Together they had 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and were married for 64 years. Mike passed away in October 2017.

Delia leaves behind her children: Debra and her husband Glenn Johnson, Michael Jr. and his husband Donald and Daniel and his wife Robin. She also leaves her grandchildren: Megan (Johnson) and her husband Lance Hansen, Brian Johnson and his wife Kelsey, Michael Magelinski III, Christopher Magelinski and Nicole Magelinski. Delia also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Delia Johnson, Daisy Johnson, Elijah Hansen and Juliet Sances. She is survived by her sisters: Pauline Kuzdeba and Genevieve Guy; her brothers: Donald Grybko and wife Elizabeth, Richard Grybko and wife MaryAnn along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Delia was predeceased by her sister Rosaline St. Hilaire and brothers Charles, Roger, Junior and Jimmy.

The family of Delia would like to thank the staff at Buckley Health Care Center for treating Delia like family and the compassionate care that was shown to her during her final days. Thank you also to New England Hospice who helped make Delia comfortable these last few months.
