Greenfield,
MA – Cynthia G. Page, 95, of the
Arbors, 1S Meridian St.,
Greenfield, MA,
passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Charlene Manor following a period of
declining health.
She was born August 5, 1918, to Jennie C. (DeWitt) and James
Harold Guething in Toledo, OH.
Her school years were spent in Cambridge,
MA and Concord,
NH. Cynthia graduated from Concord High in 1935
and attended the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH
for 2 years. She then worked for 3 years
at the Unemployment Compensation Office in Concord, NH.
On October 5, 1940, she married Samuel R. Page of Tilton, NH. They lived in the Springfield,
MA area for 24 years, where Cynthia
volunteered at the YMCA, YWCA, hospital and Old First Church while raising her family. Later, they moved to East Greenwich, RI
and then back to NH. For 10 years, they
wintered in Bradenton, FL, where Sam died in May, 1989.
Cynthia moved to Greenfield,
MA in August, 1992. She volunteered at the Survival Center
for 7 years and also B.O.O.W. at the hospital.
She belonged to the All
Souls U.U.
Church. Her main interests were duplicate bridge,
traveling and the company of family and friends.
Her oldest son, Jim, predeceased her in 1999. Survivors are her son Richard and his wife
Joyce of Hardy, VA and their two daughters Rachel and Jennifer; her daughter
Lynne and husband Roland Ratte` of Greenfield, who provided her tlc through her
later years, her grandson Sam and his wife Abby of Ladera Ranch, CA and their
two children Esther and Noah; and her daughter-in-law Judith Furiate of
Findlay, OH.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at All Souls U.U. Church
in Greenfield
on Saturday, June 14th at 2:30pm, followed by a reception at the
church. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery
in the Columbarium beside her husband.
Cynthia loved stylish clothes, so please wear something
colorful to the service. Cynthia was
very generous in support of many charities, so donations may be made to the
charity of your choice in her honor.
