Barbara J. Wood, 85, formally of 54 High Street, Greenfield, died February 1, 2014,
in the Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton after a brief illness. She was
born in Newport, Rhode Island, January 8, 1929, the daughter of Herbert and
Sarah (McLaughlin) Collins. She was educated in Greenfield
schools and graduated from Greenfield
married to Bruce Wood, November 15, 1947 in Holy Trinity Church, Greenfield.
She lived in Greenfield, moving to South Deerfield in the early 60’s.
Barbara worked in food service at the University
of Mass., Amherst for 27 years. Her
husband pre-deceased her May 7,1981. Barbara was a member of
Blessed Sacrament Church, Greenfield
and as a hobby she enjoyed bingo and card playing.
survived by 1 daughter, Elizabeth Baird of Hadley and 1 son, Bruce of
Pittsfield. 5 Granddaughters, 3 Great –Granddaughters, and 1 Great-Grandson.
She was pre-deceased by a daughter Elaine Moggio in 2007 and 2 sisters,
Isabelle Kempf and Bernice Sadney formally of Greenfield.
services will be held Thursday, Feb.6th, at 10:00AM from the Wrisley
Funeral Home, 90 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield, followed by a Liturgy of
Christian Burial at 11:00AM in Blessed
Sacrament Church, Greenfield, celebrated by Fr. Timothy
Campoli, pastor. Burial will be in the spring in Brookside Cemetery,
