Arlene Mae (Kaminski) Boro Smead, 92, passed away in her home on Wednesday (9/8/2021) after a period of declining health. Arlene "Lollie" was born in Turners Falls, MA on July 10, 1929, the daughter of Joseph Kaminski and Sophie (Klepacki) Kaminski Ostroski. She graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1947, later moving to South Deerfield when she married Alec Boro in 1951. They operated a farm there until his death in 1959.

Arlene later married Charles Davis Smead on June 16, 1962. He predeceased her on March 13, 2013 after 50 years of marriage. Arlene lived out the remainder of her life in her home in South Deerfield.

Later in her life, she did home care for the elderly for many years until she retired. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish in Turners Falls and she enjoyed decorating her home, tending her flower beds and traveling with family.

Besides her sister, Phyllis Dunn of Leominster, MA, Lollie leaves children: Thomas Smead and his wife Kathy of Sodus, NY, Steven Boro and his wife Yan of Amherst, Rachel Stevenson of Pemberton, NJ, Valarie Boro of South Deerfield and Roxanne Smead and her husband Jeff Gagnon of South Deerfield. She also leaves two grandchildren: James Stevenson and David Smead and his wife Christine as well as two great-grandchildren: Caroline and Matthew Smead. Arlene is also survived by stepdaughter Alexandra Frederick and daughter-in-law Lynn Smead as well as many nieces and nephews. Her brother Joseph Kaminski and son Robert Smead predeceased her.

Special thanks to her home health aide, Donna, for looking after her for the last three years and to the hospice staff for all of their care, compassion and guidance in making it possible for her to live out her last days in the comfort of her home. The family is grateful for all your help.
