Anne (Kulesa) Daniels (1919-2017)

WHATELY- Anne (Kulesa) Daniels 97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at her home, where she was born. She was the oldest resident of the town. Anne was born on November 4, 1919, the daughter of Walenty and Antonia (Galaska) Kulesa. She graduated from Deerfield High School.

Anne and Kenneth A. Daniels were married November 24, 1937. They were married for 73 years when Kenneth passed away at the age of 95. They enjoyed going to auctions together, and spending time with family. Anne worked at the Hotel Northampton and the Robert Frost Library at Amherst College. She was a member of the Whately Congregational Church, past member of the Ladies Benevolence Society and the Whately Historical Society, as well as a member of the Whately Grange for 72 years.

Anne enjoyed gardening, walking, reading, singing, and working out in the gym. Her gardens on the road-side banks were admired by those driving be, often slowing down to get a better loo or sometimes stopping to chat. Walking miles to the Whately Reservoir and back was not unusual. On a lovely blue-sky day she would sing “Oh What A Beautiful Morning”. Anne worked hard for her family both at the workplace and in the home.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Walenty and Antonia Kulesa, her husband Kenneth A. Daniels, her son Kenneth W. Daniels, her brothers Walter, Alexander, Adolph, John and Stanley; and her sisters Stella Farrick and Jennie McClellan.
