Alfred R. LaMountain, Jr

Funeral services will be Friday, February 9, 2018 at 9:15am from the Wrisley Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in the Holy Family Church. Burial will be in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee. Calling hours at the Wrisley Funeral Home will be Thursday from 5-7pm.

Sunderland, MA – Alfred R. LaMountain, Jr., 88, of North Silver Lane, Sunderland died February 3, 2018 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Whately on August 12, 1929, the son of Alfred R. and Wanda (Rogaleski) LaMountain.

 

He was educated in local schools and later married Lillian Piechota on June 2, 1956 in St. Stanislaus Basilica in Chicopee. At the time of her death, they were married 58 years.

 

Alfred served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954, assigned to the Air Police during the Korean War. He worked on construction for Warner Bros., Inc. from 1955 to 1984 and later as a custodian at UMass from 1984 to 1992 at his retirement. He was a member of the Holy Family Church in South Deerfield. Alfred enjoyed fishing, hunting, bicycle riding, listening to music and playing bingo.

 

He is survived by one daughter Deborah Giles and her husband Edward of South Hadley, one brother, James Burke and his wife Judith of Milford, MA, two sisters, Patricia Naple and her husband Louie of Worcester and Jeannie Burke of California and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Lenhey.

 

The family wishes to thank the Soldiers Home for the excellent care and love given to him for four and a half years.
